I created this smaller portrait as a personal challenge. The smaller the portrait, the more difficult it is to make using the cell process. I chose Bill Murray as subject matter because the way he lives his life brings me joy. He exudes a mixture of spontaneity, charisma, and complete self confidence. He is just an ordinary guy with an extraordinary life doing both ordinary and extraordinary things. After completing it, I swore to never do anything smaller. One of the best pieces of advice I have every been given is that sometimes when you create a work of art, it is yours and you need to hold on to it. This is one such work. It is a 2' x 3' made out of tape and coated with resin.
